HUGH GORDON BLAKE, 81, of FAIR HAVEN Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 03/2/07 HUGH GORDON BLAKE, 81, of FAIR HAVEN, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newton, Mass., he attended grade school and high school in Great Neck, L.I. He attended New York University. For 36 years, Hugh worked at Lily Tulip Company, Holmdel, where he was a plant administrator. He retired in 1983. He was a 33-year life member of the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Co. and served as secretary; was a financial secretary and life member of the Fair Haven Fire Police; was past president and secretary of the Fair Haven-Rumson Lions Club; a coach for Fair Haven baseball, and was a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center for 10 years. He was a past warden and head usher of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Fair Haven.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan; two sons, William and his wife Leslie of Scituate, Mass., and James and his wife Jill of W. Long Branch; four grandchildren, Maggie, Jeffrey, Justin, and Samantha; and two brothers, Ross and his wife Marcia of Ofallon, Ill., and Gael of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, 7 Church Street and River Road, Fair Haven. The family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Fair Haven Fire Department or the Fair Haven Fire Police, River Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704.
